Expanding international cooperation in the framework of the British Council Creative Spark program:
From the 14th to the 20th of June 2019, the director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship CACTLE, project coordinator Armiyash Nurmagambetova, took part in the international round table “The potential of the creative entrepreneurship for partners from Central Asia and its international development”. It was organized in the framework of Creotalents project British Council Creative Spark program in the countries of North Caucasus and Central Asia.
The round table was devoted to the main problems of the development of creative entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and the need to integrate education with the creative industry for the future development of the creative sector of the economy.
The events organized by the project team were aimed at exchanging experiences, best practices and building networks. They helped maximize the impact of the project not only on a national but also on the international level. University staff, students, undergraduates, doctoral students, representatives of ministries and departments, entrepreneurs, as well as heads of state and public institutions attended the international round table.
The speakers of the international round table were:
- Levent Altinay – Professor at Oxford Brookes University with a report on the theme: “Strategic global vision for the creative industry and entrepreneurship”.
- The representative of the University of Birmingham, Dr. Endrit Kromidha, who made a presentation on the theme: “International cooperation and creative entrepreneurship”.
- Dr. Armiyash Nurmagambetova from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University shared experience in the development of creative industries in the Republic of Kazakhstan with a report named “Creative economy of Kazakhstan: Examples of best practices”.
On 14 June 2019, Rafik Navruzov, Vice-Rector for Research at the Baku Slavic University, opened the round table with a welcoming speech for guests and participants of the event. Shirinbek Aliyev, dean of the faculty of international relations and regional studies, Nizami Esedov, senior lecturer and Rufat Efendiyev, and others, also took part in the round table and discussion. At the end of the visit, the project team met with the university rector Nurlan Aliyev. The meeting discussed the prospects of cooperation between universities within the project.
On 17 June 2019 at J. Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University participants were welcomed by: Bekzhan Temirov, Vice – rector for academic Affairs, Diana Tsoi, program Manager of the British Council in Kyrgyzstan, as well as Deputy Dean of KEF Aigerim Bokoeva. The head of Department of investment policy and free economic zones of investment policy department the of the Ministry of economy Aliaskar Turgunbaev made a report and spoke about the contribution of entrepreneurship in the socio-economic development of the country and priority directions of entrepreneurship development in Kyrgyzstan. Minister of education and science counsellor, Larisa Marchenko, shared with the participants a report on the basic principles of the Strategy of education development for 2021-2023.
On 20 June 2019 Vice-rector Tuychiboyev Nozimjon and Director of the Department of international cooperation Holla Sattarova opened the round table. The head of the Artists Union of Fergana city, Lyubov Semizorova, made a report on the state of creative industry development. In her report she spoke about the potential and problems of the creative industry in the region. Head of the Department of design presented the best works of students of the Faculty of arts. Artisans and entrepreneurs of the city of Fergana attended the international round table. Students of the faculty of fine arts and graphics presented the best works that have received recognition at international competitions.
All participants noted the need for such events, which will contribute to the development of cooperation and the establishment of an incubator between the business and academic environment, as well as the development and strengthening of international cooperation.
